Why do sublimation t-shirts need to be 100% polyester?

Sublimation dye bonds permanently to polyester fibres through a heat-activated process that converts dye from solid to gas and embeds it into the fibre. Cotton fibres do not accept this bond — prints on cotton will wash out within a few washes. A minimum of 65% polyester is needed for reasonable results; 100% polyester gives the most vivid, durable print.

Can I print dark-coloured designs on these white kids sublimation tees?

Yes. Sublimation produces the most vivid results on white or light-coloured substrates — the white fabric acts as the background colour in your design. Dark, saturated colours print vibrantly. You cannot sublimate onto a dark-coloured tee because the dye is transparent and the dark fabric will show through the design.

What heat press settings do I use for kids sublimation t-shirts?

Typical settings for polyester sublimation tees: 190–200°C, 40–60 seconds, medium pressure. Use a Teflon sheet or protective paper above the transfer to protect the upper platen. Always do a test press on a spare blank at your specific settings before a production run.

Are these available in adult sizes as well?

Yes. BizSupplies stocks unisex adult sublimation t-shirts separately. Search 'sublimation t-shirts' on our site for the full range.

Buying Guide: Kids Sublimation T-Shirts for Print-on-Demand

Sublimation printing on kids’ tees requires a 100% polyester fabric — cotton blends will not hold sublimation dye and the print will wash out. These tees are 170gsm double jersey polyester, which strikes the balance between a soft hand feel and good ink absorption. The unisex cut means a single size run covers both boys and girls in your product catalogue.
