Application Tape: The Indispensable Transfer Film
Application tape, also known as **transfer tape**, is essential for making signs and graphics. Its primary function is to securely lift cut vinyl decals from their backing paper and transfer them onto the final substrate (such as a wall or vehicle) with perfect alignment.
While some vinyl graphics can be applied manually, **most professional vinyl graphics require application tape** to maintain precise registration and prevent stretching or bubbling.

Paper vs. Clear Film: Which to Choose?
The choice between paper and clear film depends entirely on your project’s needs. We stock both types to ensure we have the perfect tack level and format for your job.

Paper Application Tape (Industrial Strength)

**Material:** Opaque paper with latex adhesive.
**Feature:** Softer, more flexible, and generally cheaper.
**Best For:** General purpose transfers and **application fluid** processes (it is much more practical for fluid application).
**Limitation:** Opaque nature makes precise alignment of multi-layered graphics difficult.

Clear Film Application Tape (Precision)

**Best For:** Multi-layered graphics and **precision alignment** (full visibility of the decal).
**Feature:** Low-stretch film allows for clean registration on complex decals.
**Limitation:** Generally lower tack strength than paper. **Not suitable for heated processes** as it can melt.
