Self-Healing Cutting Mat — 5-Layer PVC with Grid Markings
Self-healing cutting mats use a multi-layer compressed PVC construction where the surface fibres close back together after a blade passes through. The cut mark disappears rather than accumulating into a groove that deflects future blade paths — which is what happens on standard cutting boards after extended use. The result is a consistently flat, uniform surface that keeps blades cutting true and reduces blade wear.
These mats use five layers of mixed-density PVC: harder outer layers resist surface scoring, softer inner layers absorb blade pressure to protect the cutting edge. The dark green non-reflective surface reduces eye strain under workshop lighting; white grid lines and 45/60/90-degree angle markers help with accurate straight cuts without measuring every time.
The non-slip base holds the mat in position on the work surface. Store flat — rolling or stacking under heavy objects will cause permanent warping. Clean with a damp cloth; avoid solvents which degrade the PVC layers.
