5-Year Polymeric Vinyl: When to Upgrade from Economy Cast
Polymeric vinyl sits between economy calendered films (1–2 year outdoor) and premium cast films (5–7 year outdoor). The “high performance” designation on this film indicates a plasticiser system that resists migration and shrinkage — the two most common failure modes in cut vinyl signage applied to flat or slightly curved surfaces.
The 1220mm width makes it a direct fit for most Roland, Mimaki, and Graphtec wide-format plotters. This film is rated for 5 years outdoor on flat and simple curved surfaces when properly applied and trimmed. It is not suitable for compound curves or deep channel letter wraps — use a cast film for those applications.
